It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Read Dates: 4 August 2021 to 6 August 2021

Rating: 5 stars

This book was a whirlwind of emotions. I went in thinking it would be a cute, romance novel (courtesy of the Colleen Hoover way) and wow, I was wrong. There was so much going on and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and maybe going in with the wrong perception was a good thing. This book does a great job of touching on darker topics that we don't discuss that much as a society and I highly recommend you read it. I was left feeling empty and sad, but I'm sure others would say they had a different response to the end. Maybe emotionally drained is a better way to put it. Highly recommend, though!

*spoiler alert*

My biggest complaint is that Lily and Atlas ended up together. I wanted Lily to be alone at the end to focus on her and her daughter. The entire book I saw Atlas as this friend who was there for her and was her person but not at the end of the book. It felt….unauthentic. I really wanted this to be a book where “the girl chooses herself.” And also her baby in this case.
